2041 was founded by polar explorer, environmental leader and public speaker Robert Swan, OBE, the first person in history to walk to both the North and South Poles. Swan has dedicated his life to the preservation of Antarctica by the promotion of recycling, renewable energy and sustainability to combat the effects of climate change.

Mikkelsen Bay and the Lemaire Channel

The past two days have been a whirl wind of experience and motion for the IAE team. Each person has gained a unique perspective into the beauty, history, and rawness of Antarctica.

A few shared moments that have left there impression-

Floating next to a couple of snoring humpback whales, meters away with the engine turned off- nothing but sea ice chattering breaking the pristine silence.

Finishing off the final personal presentations within " the leadership on the edge" program. Gaining heartfelt insights from software engineers, journalists, well-fair workers, micro finance investors, and students alike. All passionate to create active solutions back in their real life's in response to the issues that face our world and climate.

Immersing ourselves amongst the wildlife during the shore landings. Simple watching all the details and natural workings unfurl around. Baby fur seals playing with each other, carving glaciers, yakking colonies of curious penguins- all thriving together, without effort.

Exploring the historical sights of early French explorers of the 1910's. Locked between ice, mapping the edges of the world. A generation of lives reflected in carved stone and rotting timber.

Attempting to convey and understand the scale of 3,000 ft vertical cliffs erupting out of black waters. Wrapping up a perfect day with a sunset through the Lemaire channel. Crispy winds in our faces- heads raised high. Breathtaking landscapes in ever direction shaking heads and jerking tears.

Between land and dialogue, the team is soaking in the lasting details of this mighty place. All of us certain, that this great wilderness will always hold a special place in our heart, and the friendships formed in this icy realm with live on for many years to come.

Such pure raw beauty - just has to be preserved! Let us all make continued efforts to keep it that way... for the future of our World and future generations, and to honour all those who went before and those who will continue to extend the limits of our capabilities.
