It is no doubt that climate change poses one of the most serious threats to the global environment. Recently, in the UAE, Robert Swan had the opportunity to engage with students at the Higher Colleges of Technology in Madinat Zayed about such issues. While at HCT, Robert asked for students to get involved and join the annual expedition to Antarctica. The responsiveness and enthusiasm of the female student body was apparent.
During the lecture, Robert highlighted the importance of taking action, as the biggest threat is waiting for someone else: “We need to act now, before it is too late. The ice is melting fast and seventy percent of the world’s fresh water is frozen in it. The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”
