2041 was founded by polar explorer, environmental leader and public speaker Robert Swan, OBE, the first person in history to walk to both the North and South Poles. Swan has dedicated his life to the preservation of Antarctica by the promotion of recycling, renewable energy and sustainability to combat the effects of climate change.

Breaking the ice with Enhanced Energy Design.

Enhanced Energy design is the passion of American electrical engineer Michael Chambers. Based in Germany the company works for innovation in renewable energy systems. Challenged by Robert Swan to produce a zero emission and fossil fuel free portable power generator that works in the most extreme conditions, Enhanced Energy Design has met this challenge and their new system was today being tested after it's journey to Ushuaia. The prototype photovoltaic generator meets the special conditions of Antarctic travel and is capable of heating water for cooking, heating the tent, re-charging battery equipment and of course the essential melting of snow and ice for drinking water in temperatures in the negatives. This important partnership proves that truly renewable energy is not only possible but essential in the preservation of the Antarctic. #icyclassroom #IAE2015
