From December 4th-12th, 2016, Robert Swan will lead an exclusive International team to the Union Glacier basecamp. The base is situated at 80 degrees south, 600 miles from the South Pole. After 15 years of ocean based ‘International Antarctic Expeditions’, this is the first time that Robert has led a group to the heart of the last untouched frontier.
IAE 80 South team will fly 4 hours from Punta Arenas, Chile, and land on an ice runway in the lee of the Ellsworth Mountains. Working with Adventure Network International, the team will explore the surrounding land and icescapes. From emerald ice-pools to towering desolate peaks, each day will hold a new experience. By foot, on ski, and in the air the IAE 80 team will touch the spirit of Antarctica.
During the expedition, Robert, with his son Barney, will be engaging the team on dialogues ranging from leadership, public speaking, sustainability and the preservation of Antarctica. Working side by side with NASA and renewable energy representatives, the IAE team will play a crucial role in testing equipment and technology that will be used during the South Pole Energy Challenge 2017 – 2018 expedition.
Only a select few have the opportunity to visit the highest, driest, windiest, coldest continent on earth! Learn more about the IAE 80 experience.
