2041 and Robert Swan would like to invite you to the Inaugural Edition of the Global Himalayan Expedition to be held in Ladakh, India from 11 -22 August, 2013. The Global Himalayan Expedition is an initiative by the IAE -2012 Alumni from India.
This Holistic Himalayan Experience besides stretching across pure adventure would also involve cultural connect with the local communities and their activities which are focused on sustainability.
During this expedition the team would also be setting up the third Educational Base (E-Base) in Ladakh following E-base Antarctica and the Pench E base on a tiger reserve. Powered fully on renewable energy, this Educational Base would be known as the Third Pole E- Base. Using a passive solar heating design, ‘Third Pole E-base’ would be it warm even in winters and be earthquake resistant.
Joining the Global Himalayan Expedition will be the “Cycle for water” team (cycleforwater.com) from Netherlands who also came on the 2012 IAE Expedition. Michael and Joost of Cylce for Water cycled on bicycles made of bamboo shoots from Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina to raise awareness on water related issues and then went onwards to the Antarctic with Robert Swan. Being an expedition which focuses on reinforcing the message of sustainability, it also connects with the locals of Ladakh, whose lifestyle is a shining example of living on the edge.
